Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a cutting edge fighting art developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family of Brazil. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu contains stand up techniques for winning a fight, but is most famous for its devastating ground attacks. Using sophisticated applications of leverage and technique enables a smaller opponent to overcome much larger adversaries. The foundations for this fun martial art allows one to gain superior position and apply numerous chokes, holds, locks, and joint manipulations.
Kickboxing
NJMMAA uses a new approach to teaching stand up self defense to our students. Kickboxing students will learn to apply techniques, such as kicks, punches, knees and elbows with speed, power and accuracy. They will also learn how to defend the same techniques, as which they are applying, in a functional manner, all while progressively adding more resistance and gaining confidence in defending themselves as well as providing a full body and cardio workout.
Kids BJJ
At NJMMAA we strive to teach our children the same well-rounded curriculum that we teach our adults. The kids will receive the same benefits in class, such as self-confidence, self-discipline, respect and weight loss. Self-defense is taught to the kids using the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This program gives the kids the framework to start their grappling skills. They will learn to control their opponents with take downs, positioning, and submission moves. This gives them the confidence to defend themselves against strangers and schoolyard bullies. All of these skills are learned in a fun and safe atmosphere. Our kids program starts at 5 years of age and up.
Mixed Martial Arts
At NJMMAA we gear our MMA class towards the students who are looking to take their training to the next level. This class covers techniques that are used in BJJ, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, and judo. Mixed martial arts is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. It is a great way to get in shape and learn practical self-defense skills.
Self Defense
NJMMAA is dedicated to teaching the most up-to-date and effective self defense system and tactics. We have blended techniques from the grappling art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Russian Sambo, and wrestling to follow standing and strike arts, such as Western boxing, American kickboxing, Muy Thai and Karate. Our self defense program also focuses on learning small joint manipulation and weapons defense. This program is great for men and women of all ages and professions. We not only teach you to be physically ready to defend yourself but to be mentally aware of your surroundings and ready for any and all situations.
