Once again we have a lot of Jiu Jitsu knowledge being passed down at North Jersey MMA in Sussex County NJ. First up this week we had long time student Jess Pew receive his 2nd stripe on his BLUE BELT! Next up was one of our Newer students Matt Schiemo. Matty has been putting in work on the mat the past month or so and has earned his 1st stripe on his WHITE BELT. Once again North Jersey MMA brought some of the BEST BJJ to Sussex County. We had BJJ Black Belt Yanni “H” Hronaski up for an AMAZING  seminar. Once again North Jersey MMA put together another action packed training mat with the BEST local talent learning and training together on the mat. We had top students from some of the local academies training and working together tonight. They all know if they want the BEST training in Sussex County there is no other place to go but NJMMAA.

At the end of a very informative seminar and great training session we had some belt promotions in order Darren Siegel and Tim Gallagher after over a year of hard work and dedication received there much deserved BLUE BELTS! Both guys have put there hours in on the mats and some in the competition arena also. So from all of us here at North Jersey MMA in Lafayette NJ… WE SALUTE YOU! CONGRATS MEN.. COME ONE COME ALL!!! Monday April 16th 2012 North Jersey MMA in Lafayette NJ will be holding a Gi and No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar with BJJ Black Belt… Yanni “H” Hronaski.. Yanni is the owner and chief instructor at Up Top Martial Arts in Wayne NJ. Yanni is a 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and Black Belt in BJJ. Yanni has been a longtime friend, training partner and one of my first BJJ instructor. All I can say is that he has one of the MOST technical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu games I have ever seen in my 8yrs of Jiu Jitsu training and everyone I know who knows “H” or has had the pleasure to train with him all AGREE!

Yanni will be teaching a 2 hr seminar from 6:30-8:30pm. The seminar will be covering Gi and No Gi techniques. Some of the guards we are going to be covering are ” Spider, De la Riva, 50/50, and DEEP 1/2 guards”. It is OFFICIAL North Jersey MMA fighter in TOP Bantamweight fighter Claudio Ledesma will be making his 2nd appearance in the Bellator Fighting Championships. Claudio has been tearing it up since his Split decision lost last year for the Ring of Combat Bantamweight Title. Since then he has racked up some pretty impressive victories. Earning his way back into the 2nd largest MMA promotion in the United States second only to the UFC.

Claudio will be back in the cage May 11th 2012 at Ceasars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City NJ. Claud will be taking on a very game opponent in a former Strikeforce and Bellator Vet. the Bomb Squad’s Anthony Leone. This fight is turning out to possibly be Fight of the Night! Claudio has been training extremely hard for this opportunity and will come to the octagon more prepared than ever! We had 3 competitors compete this weekend at the Grapplers Quest in Wayne NJ. For 2 of our competitors it was there 1st BJJ/Submission wrestling tournamet of there young jiu jitsu careers.

First up was Ron”Burgandy”Burd. This was Ron’s 3rd tournament of his jiu jitsu career. Ron always shows up and competes like a WARRIOR for the North Jersey MMA Army! Ron came out and almost removed his opponents arm from his body winning his first match via Armbar submission. His next match he was up points and had the submission locked in and his opponent tapped on him so he let got thinking he received the victory… But his opponent had no honor or respect for his fellow competitors and re-nagged on his submission. So Ron being the true gentlemen he his continued to compete for the rest of the match and ended up losing the match on a point .

No worries because in the next match the opponent tried the samething with his other opponent but, his opponent wasn’t as nice as Ron and he saw what he did to Ron so he did not let go until you heard his screams echo through the gym. Now this cheater doesn’t have the use of his arm for the next 6-8 weeks Can we all say KARMA

Next up on Sunday we had young James Miller compete in his 1st Jiu Jitsu match. His first  matched lasted no longer than 2 mins and he walked away with his hand raised after a vicious armbar he applied with great skill sending him to the quarter final. His quarter finals matched started off with him be spiked on in head which is an illegal technique and was not called by the Referee. James being a little dazed after the spike on his head he still showed why North Jersey MMA is known for there mental and physical toughness and road out the match only to be spiked again and finished the match down on points btu with his head held high knowing he gave it his all.

Last but not least was Devin Flannery from out Lil Monstas program! Devin can out and took his division by storm! Finishing his first victim in under 30 sec via Armbar.. His next 2 opponents met the same faith and lost there arms in the process. So now it was the finals match and Devin went you against a young man who should have WON the “Sandbagger of the year” Award. If you aren’t familiar with what sand bagging is. It is when a competitor competes in a lower division than he is suppose to be in! So being that this young man is a National Judo Champion there is no way he should be competing in the Beginners division. To add insult to injury the “Judo Champ” tapped to one of Devin’s choked by starting to cry. It clearly states especially in the KIDS division that is the child crys it is an automatic verbal submission. So with referee’s error and no honor from the father of the child they ended up winning on points.

Either way Devin took home a SHINY Silver Medal! We are looking forward to many more medals and championships to come from this young BOSS! Congrats to all my Soldiers, Coaches and fans who came out to support our family this weekend. We love,respect and appreciate you all! WAR NJMMAA
