Buddhasport.com stopped by North Jersey MMA in Sussex County NJ last week to get some insight on Mixed Martial Arts training. Buddhasport.com‘s  Owner Nick Mirabella sat down with Chief Instructor Garrett Goldsberry during one of our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes and asked him questions on his methods in training and coaching in this era of mixed martial arts.

Just wanted to go over the schedule for this coming Friday. We have Combat @ the Capital at 130 Bowery Ave NYC doors open @ 7pm First Fight starts @ 8pm. We have our very own Assistant Kickboxing Instructor Dan Arthur making his 2012 debut and Jess Pew will be stepping up on SHORT notice to make his 2012 Kickboxing Debut. We are looking forward to seeing the North Jersey MMA Army in NYC showing there support for their fellow teammates.

The school will be CLOSED Friday Feb. 24th due to the fights. Sorry for any inconvenience we hope everyone takes the short trip to NYC to show Manhattan how Jersey gets DOWN!

Kickboxing, Muay Thai classes in Sussex County NJ

The Chicago based organization is one of the BIGGEST and Most Successful MMA companies in the USA second to only the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The organization is best known for its tournament style events. Similiar to events like the K-1 Grand Prix tournaments and Grappler’s Quest and NAGA formats.

Where title shots are earned not given! They hold weight class tournament where the winner of the tournament get’s there shot against the champion of the weight class. A lot of fighter who come up through the grappling circuits tend to like because if you WIN you get your chance at the best. Not like other organizations where if you talk a lot of smack or are in a movie you are more of a pull for ticket sales than actually deserving of your shot.

Claudio has fought for Bellator once and compiled a record of (1-0) with them. He has since fought for CFFC and fought his way to 6th in the world as a 135lb prospect. Bellator recognizing his talent and skill have offered him a chance to fight with some of the BEST competition in the world and prove that he is a GREAT addition to their 135lb weight class.

Claudio is humbled but excited to prove himself to the Bellator Brass and show them they have made the right choice in this young and exciting mixed martial artist. So congrats to our very own Ledesma and I know our ARMY will pool around this young talent and make sure he is prepared for who ever they throw at him for a challenge!

North Jersey MMA has Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Kickboxing and MMA classes for children and adults of all levels.

We have had a lot of action in the month of February. From Professional MMA bouts to Amateur Grappling tournaments.
We are looking to close the month out with some Amateur Muay Thai bouts on Feb. 24th in NYC (Combat @ the Capital)

In the mean time we have had a bunch of soldiers training and moving up the Jiu Jitsu ladder. First up in our Lil Monstas class! Some of our lil guys have been putting in work the hardest and it is paying off! Here are some of our STRIPE earners.

North Jersey MMA Fighter Claudio Ledesma once again stepped into the cage this past Saturday @ CFFC.

Claudio showed his well rounded skill set using all his Mixed Martial Arts skills. He used his striking, wrestling and jiu jitsu to win his 6th Professional MMA match. Claudio fought a very game opponent in a 7-4 Pedro Gonzalez. Pedro is a top ranked 135lber out of Boston, Mass and is ranked number 1 in the New England MMA circuit. Claudio won the fight by Uniamious Decision winning 30-27 on all 3 of the judges score cards!

Congrats to Claudio, all his training partners and coaches who helped him work towards this win and another amazing night in Atlantic City,NJ. North Jersey MMA is showing that it is among the TOP MMA schools in New Jersey 1 scrap at a time.

It is AWESOME seeing so many students of all ages taking or re-taking the first steps in the GREATEST journey of their lives MARTIAL ARTS. So I decided to get everyone together for a fun and SAFE day at the range. RTSP is a beautiful 10 bay indoor shooting range located in Randolph NJ. I have arranged for the range to be exclusively ours from the hours of 6-8pm. I will also have NRA certified instructor to supervise and instruct the less experienced shooters to insure everyone has a fun and safe day.

Cost of the outing is only $50 and will include range time, guns and ammo. If you have your own BOOM sticks feel free to bring them along and sling some lead There is ammo available for purchase at the range and if you do bring your own ammo it has to be factory ammo (NO RELOADS) are allowed. All participants must be atleast 18 yrs old. If they are younger they must be accompanied by a parent. (min age is 12yrs old) We will be meeting at the range at 5:30pm to fill out paperwork and to go over everyone’s safety briefing.
